The Fairview Police Department is accepting applications for “Citizens on Park Patrol” or COPP. This is a volunteer position that will help increase visibility in selected city parks.

Fairview Police Chief Ken Johnson issued the following statement regarding this new program: “The true essence of community policing is local law enforcement partnering with the community to solve problems and fight crime. Citizens on Park Patrol will increase our visibility in city parks which will reduce instances of crime and disorder. The park patrol volunteers will be additional eyes and ears of the Police Department furthering our mission of making Fairview and a safe community to live, work and play.”

Citizens on Park Patrol volunteers will patrol the following parks: Community Park, Salish Ponds Trails, Park Cleone and Fairview Woods Park. Working in pairs, the volunteers will patrol using the department all-terrain vehicle (Yamaha Rhino) and/or on foot patrol.

Applicants must pass a background check and complete a specially designed training course.

Applications are available at the Fairview Police Department or can be downloaded: COPP Application.
