Officer of the Year
In January of each year Chief Johnson takes nominations from police officers and sergeants for the Officer of the Year candidates. Once the candidates are presented before the chief, he puts the Officer of the Year selection to a vote from all the police officers and sergeants.

Some of the criteria considered for selecting the Officer of the Year include a positive attitude toward the public and the Police Department, work ethic, being a role model for other officers, volunteerism, community mindedness, and exemplifying the qualities expected from a law enforcement officer.

The selected Officer of the Year is honored by local community groups, awarded a plaque and an Officer of the Year breast bar to be worn on the uniform, and is recognized on the Fairview Police Department’s Officer of the Year Honor Board for the year selected.
